Jen (Manager / Cosmetologist)
Jen is a dedicated and passionate hairstylist with 14 years of experience under her belt! As the manager of the Boise shop, her dedication to creating a positive atmosphere not only for her team but also for her clients speaks volumes about her leadership skills and passion for her craft. Her expertise in delivering perfect cuts, especially her favorite scissor cuts and tapered necklines, surely sets a high standard at the barbershop. Outside of work, Jen leads a busy and fulfilling life with her husband Tony and their 4 teenagers. Being outdoors and supporting them in Rugby and Softball keeps weekends crazy and enjoyable. Her love for summer and being active fits perfectly with her vibrant personality. With Jen at the helm, Bolder Barbershop is surely a place where clients not only get great haircuts but also feel welcomed and valued.
Sophia (Stylist)
Sophia, a licensed Cosmetologist with a decade of experience specializing in men's haircuts, has honed her skills with a particular fondness for skin fades and non-traditional haircuts. Originating from upstate New York, she traversed the country before finding her home in Idaho. An avid traveler, Sophia holds a special place in her heart for the warm and beautiful beaches of the Bahamas. As a mother of two boys, her love for camping and exploring the great outdoors is evident. During her leisure time, she engages in a variety of activities, including reading, playing video games, and board games, all while cherishing moments with family and friends. Adding to her diverse skill set, Sophia is currently pursuing her education with the goal of becoming a Diagnostic Sonographer. Her multifaceted talents and love for both the beauty industry and healthcare showcase her dedication to personal and professional growth.
Tate (Barber / Stylist)
Tattoos serve as both a narrative and a canvas for Tate, revealing his creative side. Among his several tattoos, his personal favorites include his mother's name on his leg and a bio-mechanical piece adorning the top of his head. Tate's journey in the hair styling realm led him to graduate from Paul Mitchell with a dual certification as a Barber/Stylist, having completed an extensive 1600 hours of hands-on haircutting. His expertise shines in mastering challenging cuts such as "zero fades and skin fades," and his ability to carve intricate designs as a finishing touch is truly admirable. Outside the barber's chair, Tate dedicates his spare time to fitness, engaging in weightlifting and boxing at the gym. Originally hailing from Idaho Falls and a lifelong Cowboys fan, he currently resides in Boise. Looking ahead, Tate envisions a long-term goal of owning his own shop.
Luan (Barber)
Luan’s story is a captivating blend of cultural diversity and local roots, growing up in Boise Idaho. With Vietnamese as his first language, Luan is fluent in both Vietnamese and English. Graduating from Timberline High School he has built lasting connections in the Boise area. He and his girlfriend share their lives with Mochi, a border collie/corgi mix. He enjoys the outdoors and loves a good “road trip” which provides a sense of adventure.
Beyond personal connections, Luan channels his passion into the world of sneakers, earning the title of dedicated “sneakerhead”. His interest extends beyond collecting to a genuine appreciation for unique and stylish footwear.
As a sports enthusiast, he has immense passion for the Boise Broncos football and basketball teams. His admiration extends to being a devoted fan of LeBron James, while during football season, he enthusiastically supports the Cowboys.
Professionally, he graduated from Boise Barber College and has been honing his skills as a barber, showcasing a particular fondness for skin fades and tapers.
Mark (Barber)
Following in the esteemed footsteps of his father, Mark proudly continues the family tradition as a generational barber. Raised in Boise, he graduated from Paul Mitchell in 2019 and has been passionately cutting hair ever since. Creativity is clearly a family trait, and Mark, embracing his role as an "old school barber," revels in the distinctive "Rock A Billy" style – a fusion of the 1950s vintage vibe with contemporary edginess. His personal favorite cut is the timeless traditional flattop. Beyond the barber’s chair, he enjoys the underground music scene with his wife. Summer months are dedicated to the vibrant atmosphere of outdoor festivals as well as the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, Oregon. Mark delves into the realms of Usui Reiki and Holy Fire Reiki, forms of Japanese energy healing. Demonstrating mastery in both, he devotes time to studying and practicing these healing arts.
Robert (Barber)
Robert's journey in the world of barbering began at Boise Barber College, where he earned his barber certification. He furthered his expertise by obtaining a barbering/instructor license from Paul Mitchell Salon. With over eight years of experience in the industry, Robert has developed a mastery for various styles, but his heart lies in the precision of the traditional straight razor skin fade or a full face shave. Witnessing the satisfaction and joy on his clients' faces at the end of a haircut is what keeps him passionate about his craft. Robert believes in the transformative power of a great haircut, recognizing its ability to brighten even the gloomiest of days.
Robert is a proud Boise native who served 10 years in the Marines, serving our country in Iraq and Afghanistan . Outside the barber shop, he is a dedicated father of three daughters. Robert is also an avid Cowboys fan, bringing his passion for the game into his everyday life.
Colby (Barber)
Graduating from Aveda Barber College in Boise, Bolder Barbershop provides a unique atmosphere and vibe where Colby can showcase his expertise in popular and stylish haircuts. Want a good Taper Fade? Colby’s your barber! His attention to detail and ability to create precise and polished looks keeps his clients returning to his chair. Having lived in various places like California, Vegas, and now Idaho, he enjoys traveling to different cities around the country. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and of course a good summertime BBQ. His love for sports (he’s a huge basketball fan), music, and sneakers makes for easy conversation while getting your haircut.
Jade (Receptionist)
Jade is an avid nature enthusiast who thrives on the abundance of outdoor activities Boise has to offer. She enjoys biking around town as she explores the city's charming streets. Jade also finds solace in hiking along the scenic Boise River and other water areas, immersing herself in the beauty of nature. At home, she shares her space with Marvin, an affectionate orange tabby cat. Jade is anticipating the arrival of a Pitbull Barak mix puppy, adding to her furry family. Beyond her love for animals and outdoor adventures, Jade is passionate about expressing her creativity through clay work. This year marks a significant milestone for her as she plans to enroll in college to pursue a career in cybersecurity, fueled by the ambition to make it her lifelong professional goal.
Chance (Receptionist)
Soon to be a massage therapist, Chance is currently taking classes towards his degree. His ultimate goal is to pursue custom body work specifically for targeted injuries and pain. As a native Idahoan, he resides in the Boise area with his two dogs; a pitbull border collie mix and a Barak hound).
Anna (Receptionist)
Anna’s outgoing personality and interests bring a fun atmosphere to Bolder Barbershop. On the personal side, her love for baking, art, film, and music adds a unique flair to her interests. Having 3 cats and a dog, she loves animals, particularly her favorite cat Thor. Her adventurous spirit has been fueled by her travels to Europe and Mexico, as well as her certification as a scuba diver. As she transitions into her Senior year, she is driven both academically and professionally, as she studied hard and earned the right to skip her Junior year. Her teammates at the shop agree that Anna brings joy and enthusiasm to everything she does.
